Akilah Chopfield is a multifaceted artist, writer, and certified yoga instructor with a passion for creativity, holistic wellness, and personal growth. Her journey into yoga began during her master's program in film and television production, where she discovered the tranquility of practicing by the beach. Over the years, she continued to develop her practice, finding solace amidst the stress and challenges of her career.

 

A turning point came when Akilah experienced massive industry layoffs and a historic dual strike. She seized the opportunity to pursue her yoga teacher certification, receiving a scholarship to attend a month-long intensive training in Costa Rica with the School Yoga Institute. Initially intending to deepen her personal practice, she was inspired by her instructors to share the transformative power of yoga with others.

 

Akilah found yoga to also be a means to manage stress and anxiety, and quickly found that it provided a unique opportunity to bring together her love of movement, mindfulness, and creativity. She approaches her teaching with a focus on body positivity, self-acceptance, and the joy of being present in the moment.

 

With her production background, Akilah brings a unique blend of artistry and authenticity to her teaching, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for students of all backgrounds and abilities. Her classes are energizing and uplifting, filled with music, laughter, and the freedom to explore your own practice on and off the mat.

 

When she's not teaching yoga, Akilah can be found writing, doing acro yoga, and creating new works to inspire connection, empathy, and understanding. She believes that both art and yoga have the power to transform our relationships with ourselves and the world around us and is dedicated to sharing that vision with others. As an advocate for living yoga both on and off the mat, Akilah strives to cultivate peace and joy within herself and others
